□ 프로그램 개요

‘ACC-Rijksakademie Dialogue and Exchange’은 국립아시아문화전당과 라익스아카데미와 국제 인적 교류 프로그램의 일환으로 시각예술작가 레지던시 프로그램을 공동 운영 중에 있습니다. 2015년 시범운영을 시작으로 금년 2018년까지 총 4회째 프로그램을 운영하고 있습니다.
이에 금년 2018년 해당 프로그램을 위한 아시아에서 활동하고 있는 4명의 시각예술분야 작가를 모집합니다.
 
국립아시아문화전당은 아시아의 과거-현재의 문화예술과 혁신적인 아이디어와 신념이 만나 미래지향적인 새로운 결과물을 생산해내는 국제적인 예술기관이자 문화교류기관입니다. 국립아시아문화전당은 아시아를 비롯한 전 세계의 참여자들이 연구-창작-제작의 단계를 유기적으로 수행하여 경계를 가로지르며 자유롭게 화합하고 생각을 나눌 수 있는 통합적인 플랫폼 역할을 합니다.
 
라익스아카데미(http://www.rijksakademie.nl)는 네덜란드 암스테르담에 소재하며 국제 레지던시 프로그램을 운영하는 기관입니다. 라익스아카데미 프로그램은 작가들의 연구, 실험, 창작을 위한 전문 인적 자원 및 전문 시설들을 운영·제공하며, 세계 각국의 우수한 참여자(작가, 큐레이터, 관련 분야 전문가 등)들과의 교류를 통해 참여작가들에게 다양한 통로로 국제미술계에 소개하는 명망높은 레지던스 프로그램을 운영하고 있습니다.

□ 프로그램 기간
‘ACC-Rijksakademie Dialogue and Exchange’의 작가 레지던시는 3개월 동안 국립아시아문화전당에서 운영되며, 이후 3개월 동안 라익스아카데미에서 운영됩니다.국립아시아문화전당 체류 기간 : 2018년 8월 15일부터 11월 15일까지
라익스아카데미 체류 기간 : 2019년 3월 1일부터 5월 31일까지 또는 2019년 8월 1일부터 10월 31일까지

□ 지원정보

작품활동을 전개 중인 시각예술분야 신진작가로 학부재학생은 제외입니다. 
제출서류는 2018년 3월15일부터 4월5일까지, 이메일(moonjung@aci-k.kr)로
지원서(양식 첨부), 이력서, 첨부자료(포트폴리오, 작품 이미지, 동영상 등. 상세내용은 지원서 양식에 명시함) 등을 첨부하여 지원해 주시면 됩니다. 모든 제출서류는 영문으로 작성되어야 합니다.(첨부하는 파일도 영문으로 작성되어 있습니다.)
 
선정은 5월 내 라익스아카데미 측에서 추천하는 3인, 국립아시아문화전당 측에서 추천하는 3인의 심사위원에 의하며, 그 전에 서류심사 통과자는 5월 중(5월 8일 예정) 화상면접(스카이프) 심사가 있을 예정입니다.

이 공모를 통해 선정된 최종 4인은 라익스아카데미 프로그램의 현재 참여자 2인, 기존 참여자(수료일로부터 5년 이내의) 2인과 함께 총 8인이 이번 프로그램에 참여하게 됩니다.

□ 지원 내용
‘ACC-Rijksakademie Dialogue and Exchange’의 작가 레지던시는 3개월 동안 국립아시아문화전당에서 운영되며, 이후 3개월 동안 라익스아카데미에서 운영됩니다.

전문적 경험을 가진 신진 예술가(학부재학생 제외)
영어로 의사소통에 어려움이 없어야 함
연구 과정에서 다른 사람들과의 참여뿐만 아니라 연구 기반 실습에 대한 명확한 관심을 보여야 함

Description of program
The Asia Culture Center (ACC) in Gwangju and Rijksakademie in Amsterdam announce the fourth edition of the joint residence exchange program with an open call for four Asia based artists to be supported by the ACC.

The ACC-Rijksakademie Dialogue and Exchange pursues a new model of artist in residence program by juxtaposing two different approaches to supporting art practices that reflect the specificities of both institutions: a model with the facilities and history that its longstanding existence entails, and a model under development by a newly established culture center focusing on Asia.

The ACC is an international arts and cultural exchange organization, which produces new and future-oriented results through the convergence of Asia’s past and present arts and culture, and innovative ideas and beliefs. Having the context of artistically sublimating the significance of the May 18th Democratic Movement’s human rights and peace as its point of departure, the ACC, which opened in November of 2015, is a Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism-affiliated institution established for the advancement of mutual understanding and cooperative growth with different Asian countries through exchange, education and research, etc. on Asian culture.

The ACC serves the role of an integrated platform for participants from all over the world, as well as from Asia, to freely unite and exchange their ideas while transcending boundaries in carrying out the steps of research, creation and production. At the ACC, diverse and dynamic programs (exhibitions, performances, education, festivals and other events) using collected research data and resources, etc. are held year-round with the creative output of experts from various fields who have exchanged inspiration with one another.

Drawing from the aforementioned the ACC’s vision, the goal of this Gwangju session of the ACC-Rijksakademie Dialogue and Exchange is to investigate what can be brought about by exchange within fields of art practice and research and how these can be supported. To this end, the residency period in Gwangju is designed to be more of a gathering based session where participating artists are encouraged to enter into discussions with each other and engage in meetings with archive researchers, as well as specialists from other disciplines. Participants will also be introduced to the dynamic art field of Gwangju and Korea through visits to institutions, galleries and alternative spaces.

Artists selected by this open call will continue the program with a session in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, where focus will be placed on the artists’ individual concerns and that can take place throughout 2019.

The Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten (http://www.rijksakademie.nl) is an international residency program in Amsterdam. It aims at further developing emerging visual artists from the Netherlands and abroad by providing space for research, experiment and production. Apart from facilities such as a studio, work budget and stipend, there is a professional research and production infrastructure. Surrounded by peers from all over the world and with access to advice of artistic, theoretical and technical experts, a residency at the Rijksakademie often leads to broadening and deepening of the work. Presentation of the work and connections to an international network form a part of the residency. There is no standard program, predominant style or ideology. The Rijksakademie provides time, people and possibilities.

Duration of program

Divided into two three-month-long sessions, one based in Gwangju and the other in Amsterdam, this program will start on August 15, 2018. till November 15, 2018 in Gwangju, and then from March 1 till May 31, 2019 or from Aug 1 to Oct 31, 2019 in Amsterdam.

Application information

Application is open to upcoming Asia based artists with a few years of professional experience after their education.

An application consists of completed the application form, documentation of work and CV, and all correspondence relating to the application is in English. The selection of participants will be made in May by a committee of 3 Rijksakademie advisors and 3 ACC advisors.

A number of candidates are invited for an online interview via Skype in May 8, 2018. (※Schedule can change)
 
Eight artists in total will take part: four Asian artists selected through this open call, two Rijksakademie artists and two Rijksakademie alumni who have left the Rijksakademie in the past 5 years. 

Program Conditions/Benefits

In Gwangju participants can expect:

- Round trip airfare (economy) to Gwangju
- Accommodation
- Work space
- Stipend and work budget (KRW1,500,000 per month during the first session in Gwangju)
- Access to facilities and information of the ACC

- Studio visits and curatorial support through one-to-one meetings, art field trips

In Amsterdam participants can expect:

- Stipend, accommodation and work budget of EUR 3,425 in total during the second

   session in Amsterdam / tax included)

- Access to facilities (technical workshops) and information of Rijksakademie

- Studio visits and support through one-to-one meetings with advisors

- Participant requirements are:

- Emerging artists with some independent professional experience.

- To be able and willing to communicate in English throughout the program

- To be able to show demonstrable interest in research based practices as well as   

  engaging with others during research processes

The selection process will consist of:
Preliminary selection on application documents

Subsequent selection based on interview and jury evaluations

In Gwangju participants must present:

The report of art practices in residency within 1 month after the end of residency in Gwangju.
