Korean Contemporary Dance Week in Brazil

Korea Arts Management Service and Government of Sao Paulo City co-presented Korea-Brazil Contemporary Dance Week. Performances of 5 Korean dance companies, 3 workshops with choreographer Ahn Ae Soon, Deca Madureira and Korean dancers, a debate forum and networking reception have been presented for a week in late November, at Centro Cultural Sao Paulo and Cacilda Becker.

" For the artists, this was an opportunity not only to present performances to the Brazilian audience, but also to get more inspiration from their cultural background and ressources. This experience motivates me to perform my dance work richer and wider than ever." - In Jung Jun, Choreographer of Blue Elephant -

" I have worked as dance critic in Sao Paulo for more than 20 years, but this is my first time to see Korean contemporary dance works. It is important to show the national identity by presenting its traditional performing arts. However, I think that both Brazil and Korea have to make efforts for artistic exchanges to show their own contemporary works, the current issues and concerns of each country's contemporary artists." - Ana Francisa, Dance critic -
