Selection Result of KAMS-EFWMF Tour Grant
In early 2011, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Arts Management Service solicited applications for the KAMS-EFWMF Tour Grant, with the goal of promoting the international competitiveness and name recognition of Korea's traditional arts through a strategy of overseas performance arrangements. This support effort was initated in 2010 under the joint operation of the Korea Arts Management Service (KAMS) and the European Forum of Worldwide Music Festivals (EFWMF). Applicants were EFWMF partner festivals confirmed to be in negotiations toward inviting Korean traditional music groups for performance. Once support has been confirmed, the Korean performing artists and/or arts groups invited by the festivals in question will receive assistance to cover airfare and freight transportation costs.
※ Applications were accepted between January 19 and February 25, 2011, and reviewed on April 5. The final selection results are as follows.

5. Evaluation Remarks
As the KAMS-EFWMF Tour Grant program enters its second year, an organization has taken shape for the overseas introduction and touring of traditional Korean music through the continued participation of the Sfinks Festival, Roskilde Festival, and Brave Festival, and it is believed that these festivals will be able to carry out this effort in a stable manner. Additionally, two new participating festivals, OFF-FEST and Music Meeting, were selected based on the determination that they would be effective touring projects, as they are linked in a festival tour.
Priority consideration for this support program was given in cases where a touring linkage has been established through the invitations of two or more festivals and/or venues, where discussions have been firmly established between the invited Korean group and festival, and where plans are under way for the production of an international effort at the festival.
Following the evaluation, the decision was made to offer support to a total of three artists and/or groups: Noreummachi, which will taking part in OFF-FEST and Music Meeting; Kwak Soo-eun, who will be participating in Sfinks Mixed; and bebeing, which will be participating in the Roskilde Festival and Brave Festival.
This program, established jointly by the European Forum of Worldwide Music Festivals (EFWMF) and the Korea Arts Management Service (KAMS), has the goal of supporting Korean performing arts groups hoping to reach the stage of European world music festivals and assisting the programming of European world music festivals hoping to introduce Korean music. We look forward to its contributing to active communication between European world music festivals and Korean music groups through a continued partnership in the years ahead.
